Delicious Monkey Bread

"If you enjoy cinnamon rolls, you'll love Monkey Bread!" =)
  • 2¼ tsp yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp oil or melted coconut oil
  • ½ cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 egg
  • ½ Tbsp salt
  • 3-4 cups unbleached white flour
For the Outside
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 Tbsp cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Combine yeast, warm water, sugar, oil, and whole wheat flour in a large bowl.
  2. Let set until it begins to bubble (5-10 minutes).
  3. Whisk in egg.
  4. Combine salt and flour and add to yeast mixture. Add enough flour so that you can handle the dough.
  5. Knead until smooth.
  6. Tear off chunks (about golf ball size) and roll them into a ball.
  7. Roll dough balls in butter, then in cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  8. Add to a greased shallow dish, or a bundt pan (really, anything works).
  9. Let rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes. Ice if desired. Enjoy!
Notes
* If you have egg allergies, you can leave the egg out. It still turns out great.

Oh...this looks simply delicious, Miss Amy! We love Monkey Bread here...and I do find it comes out best for me if I make it in a bundt pan.

Hope you are having a lovely day!
With love,
